Helena is full of stories. We want to hear them. We want to share them. We want to celebrate them. And, we want the voice of The Local- Helena to be, well, local. By sharing the stories of our town, we help shed light on the places, faces and experiences that make this such an amazing place to call home.

As a writer there are two ways to get involved with The Local- Helena:
  1. Submit an article on one of the topics below to be published in Volume 2 of The Local- Helena
  2. Submit a blog piece about a topic of your choosing to be posted on The Local- Helena blog
If your writing style and article/blog piece are a good fit (clear, true, genuine) and offer a fresh perspective of what it means to eat, drink, shop, play, live, work, learn, give, stay and create in our beloved town, we will include your article in the second volume of The Local- Helena!


Article Submission Topics:
​We have chosen a few topics that we would like to cover for Volume 2 and are opening these up to our local writers. Please submit your work reviewing/describing/informing in a fun, unique, personal way.
  • Crooked Furrow Brewing
  • Escape Room Helena
  • Sage and Oats
  • Ting Resort


Article Submissions Guidelines:
  • Email your submission as a word document to info@thelocal-helena.com.
  • Feature stories should be between 400-1500 words.
  • Our mission is to highlight our town in a unique way, so the pieces we select must reflect this goal.
  • We do edit, but please make sure your copy is clean when submitted. We will format it and find images, but if you have a great picture to accompany your piece, please submit that as well.
  • We will be choosing up to four articles (one about each topic) and will let you know if your piece is chosen by November 30, 2018.
  • SUBMISSION DEADLINE: AUGUST 22, 2018.

Article Compensation:
The Local- Helena is just starting out. Because we are in our very beginning stages, we are asking for voluntary contributions at this point. If published, we will promote your piece on The Local- Helena’s social media platforms and we ask for your help in promoting, as well, in order to drive traffic and spread the love.

Blog Submission Guidelines:
In addition to the articles outlined above, we are also accepting BLOG SUBMISSIONS! Have something you’re totally excited about that doesn’t fall into our suggested topics for article submissions? Write a blog feature that showcases a local business, activity, or place you love.
  • Please email your submission as a word document to info@thelocal-helena.com.
  • Feature stories should be between 250-1500 words and can be in any format you’d like (ie. 5 Favorite Tree Forts or The Reason We Love Pasties)
  • Our mission is to highlight our town in a unique way, so the pieces we select must reflect this goal.
  • We do edit, but please make sure your copy is clean when submitted. We will format it and find images, but if you have a great picture to accompany your piece, please submit that as well.
  • We will be choosing an unlimited amount of blogs to feature
  • DUE: Anytime
